Tax season may be over, but the IRS offers many resources to taxpayers all year long. Optima Tax Relief reviews these resources, including in-person assistance.
Taxpayer Assistance Centers (TACs) are available in locations all over the country. TAC representatives can help answer questions regarding best practices for identity protection, tax refunds, payment options, and instructions on how to request Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITINs). There are also IRS employees available that specialize in topics including tax bills, IRS audits, and tax credits.
To accommodate taxpayers whose primary language is not English, TACs have foreign language interpreters onsite. Special appointments can also be made with sign language interpreters for deaf or hard-of-hearing taxpayers.
Taxpayers should come to their TAC appointments prepared with any relevant paperwork and information. This may include:
Photo identification
Social Security cards
IRS letters and notices
Mailing address
Bank account information
Other forms of identification
Taxpayers can make an appointment at a Taxpayer Assistance Center Monday through Friday. All locations are posted on the IRS website.
