The Texans have completed an interview with Jonathan Gannon for the head coaching position.
Gannon joined the Philadelphia Eagles as the defensive coordinator prior to the 2021 season after serving as the defensive backs/cornerbacks coach for the Indianapolis colts from 2018-20.
While in Indianapolis, Gannon oversaw a secondary that helped the Colts rank sixth in interceptions (45), ninth in scoring defense (22.5 ppg) and 10th in both total defense (339.5 ypg) and red zone defense 55.9 pct.) from 2018-20.
Prior to arriving in Indianapolis, Gannon served as the Vikings' assistant defensive backs/quality control coach under Head Coach Mike Zimmer from 2014-17. During that period, Minnesota ranked second in red zone defense (48.6 pct.) and third in scoring defense (18.8 ppg), total defense (319.9 ypg), passing defense 214.6 ypg) and third-down defense (35.1 pct.).
Gannon worked as the Titans' defensive assistant/quality control coach during the 2012-13 seasons after holding the same position with the Atlanta Falcons in 2007. From 2009-11, he spent time in several scouting roles with the St. Louis Rams.
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Gannon played collegiate as a defensive back at Louisville in 2002 before sustaining a career-ending hip injury and transitioning to coaching as a student assistant.
